JACKSON, Tenn. — This Christmas, Area Relief Ministries and Englewood Baptist church promise 300 children presents underneath their tree Christmas morning. “It’s special for the children so they can open stuff on Christmas morning. Nobody wants to think about how children are going to have anything to open on Christmas morning,” said Lisa People, Executive Director of Area Relief Ministries. Community toy drives were held throughout the year which filled a warehouse to make up the Winter Wonderful Toy Store. The shoppers say that almost everything their child asked for this year was there for them to shop. “They want something of everything and I can’t get everything. So I can only do what I can do…so I hope this is a good Christmas for them, and I hope they’ll appreciate it,” said Lori Anderson who shopped at the toy store for her children. One item on most kids list this year was a bicycle. With more than 260 bikes in the warehouse, Englewood Baptist Church and Area Relief Ministries promise each child with a bike that had that item on their list. “Dolls, trucks, there’s trains everything that a child may want for Christmas so we want to put a smile on children’s faces this Christmas morning and we hope that we were successful in that,” said Peoples. Anderson explained, “I feel great and I appreciate it a lot because this helps out a lot with the single mother’s and I’m thankful right now that’s all I can say… thankful.”
