Former Minister Sentenced For Solicitation of A Minor

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A former minister convicted of solicitation of a minor faced sentencing, Monday. Dontavious Dodd, 21, was sentenced to six years of state intensive probation, 200 hours of community service and must pay $500 in fines, according to Judge Roy Morgan. Dodd also has to register as a sex offender and has no contact with victim or their family. Dodd pleaded guilty in November to three counts of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of solicitation of a minor and one count of tampering with evidence. On August 5, the Jackson Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau was notified about Dodd, of Jackson, allegedly soliciting a 14-year-old girl for sex. Investigators believe that, in July, Dodd solicited the girl for sex via the Internet and sent the girl a sexually explicit image via the Internet. Police said when Dodd learned about an impending investigation, he intentionally deleted the sexually explicit content that was stored on the girl’s social media account.
