Jackson Residents Hope to Win Mega Millions Jackpot

JACKSON, Tenn.–The Mega Millions jackpot jumped to an estimated $636 million on Tuesday, making it one of the highest jackpots ever. “It’s a blessing to hear it, but it would be a better blessing to win it,” said Alicia Ozier, of Jackson. Ozier took a chance and bought a ticket. “If I won that much money I’d pay my tithes and after I pay my tithes, I’d do whatever it takes to live,” she said. The chance of winning is slimmer than ever. Players used to pick six numbers from one to 56, but now it is one to 75. The odds of getting all six numbers right is about one in 259 million. Still, some remain optimistic. “I’m one in a million,” said Brian Collins, of Medina. “It’ll work out.” The cash prize option is worth more than $340 million. “I would have to give those that are suffering that’s homeless, drug and alcohol addiction, and help those that need help,” said Lashaunda Denton. Some have a strategy and others go for random numbers. “I’m gone let the machine do it for me and if it’s meant for me the Lord will bless me with it,” said Ozier. If no one picks the right numbers by Christmas Eve, the jackpot could reach $1 billion.
