Arrest in Shooting Outside Lane Ave. Barber Shop

JACKSON, Tenn. – Exactly one week after a man is gunned down outside an east Jackson barber shop, a suspect is taken into custody. Moriarco Lee, 21, of Jackson, was arrested, Tuesday, on a count of attempted first degree murder. Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force stopped a car Lee was riding in along Highview Street in Jackson, around 5:40 p.m. According to officers, Lee ran from the car. He was captured after a brief chase along Haughton Alley. A handgun was reportedly found near Lee when he was arrested. Police said it had been reported stolen in Brownsville. Lee will face additional charges for evading arrest, unlawful possession of a handgun and theft for being in possession of the stolen handgun. Lee remains in custody at the Madison County Jail. He will be formally arraigned, Thursday. The 20-year-old shooting victim remains hospitalized recovering from several wounds to the chest and abdomen. According to police, he was last reported in critical but stable condition.
