Henderson County Lawyer Suspended

HENDERSON CO. Tenn. — A Henderson County lawyer has been temporarily suspended from practicing law, Friday. The Supreme Court of Tennessee temporarily suspended April Rebecca Mims from the practice of law on grounds that Mims did not substantially comply with a monitoring agreement with the Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP). Starting Dec. 20, Mims is not allowed to accept any new cases and she also cannot represent any existing clients by Jan. 19. After Jan. 19 2014, Ms. Mims shall not use any indicia of lawyer, legal assistant, or law clerk nor maintain a presence where the practice of law is conducted. Mims must notify all clients being represented in pending matters, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel of the Supreme Court‘s Order suspending her law license. Mims must also deliver to all clients any papers or property to which they are entitled. This suspension remains in effect until dissolution or modification by the Supreme Court. Mims may also request dissolution or modification of the suspension by petition to the Supreme Court.
