Man Arraigned For Stealing Sickly Man’s Wallet

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The man charged with stealing a sickly man’s wallet after a fainting spell was arraigned Friday morning. Ederick Woods, 42, of Bolivar, was arraigned on a theft of property over $1,000 charge. Woods’ posted his $30,000 bond on Friday. Around 11:45 a.m. Nov. 8, James Stewart, of Pinson, accidentally dropped his wallet on the floor inside Food Giant, located at 1727 S. Highland Ave. A man police believe to be Woods walked up behind Stewart, kicked the wallet behind the counter and picked it up. The man kept the wallet, which contained more than $1,000 cash. Investigators obtained video surveillance of this incident and asked local media to air the footage in an attempt to identify the thief. A citizen called in an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers, which gave investigators a lead. Further investigation determined that Woods was the person responsible for stealing the wallet.
