Vols’ Jones expects competition at every position

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee coach Butch Jones says all positions are up for grabs as the Volunteers head into the offseason.
That includes the quarterback spot, where Tennessee started three different players this year while posting a 5-7 record.
Jones said Thursday at a postseason press conference that “every position is all even, starting at ground zero.”
Jones added that quarterback Justin Worley has resumed throwing after missing Tennessee’s last four games with an injured right thumb that required surgery. Joshua Dobbs replaced Worley in the last four games. Nathan Peterman also started one game for Tennessee before injuring his throwing hand. They’ll compete with Riley Ferguson, who redshirted as a freshman this year while dealing with a leg injury.
Jones said all four candidates would enter this competition on equal footing.
