Severe Weather Wreaks Havoc in West Tennessee

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — William Kirby spent the entire day chopping wood and trying to pick up the pieces after mother nature made her mark on his yard. “This big pine tree right there fell down and it broke the fence down and tore everything up pretty bad, may have some damage on my RV but we’re not sure about that yet,” Kirby said. A similar story for Savannah Weems, an 18-year-old graduating senior who saved all of her money to buy her first truck. She says around 7:30 Saturday night, all her hard work came crashing down. “It hit here, it took off the back of the truck, busted this tire,” Weems said. After finding out what happened to her truck Weems says she had a panic attack. She says seeing something she worked so hard for be destroyed within a matter of minutes, took her breath away. “I’m sad because I don’t have a truck no more and as you can see it’s destroyed and I got told they couldn’t fix it,” Weems said. Kirby says the only thing left to do is move on. “It’s a lot of work cutting these trees out like that, it’s just one of them things that happens you gotta roll with it, I don’t know,” Kirby said. Weems says she’ll find out on Monday whether or not she’ll get a new truck but for now, she’ll have to use a rental car.
