CAMDEN, Tenn. — The temperatures are dropping but that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to stay warm. Raymond Barnes with the Benton County Electric System says simply setting your thermostat at 67 or 68 degrees can save you a lot. “It may be a little cool for some people but if they could put on a sweater or something like that, that would save them about the most amount of money that can be done,” Barnes said. He also suggests being mindful of what lights you have on and if you really need them. Barnes said customers have seen big savings by doing this. “What it amounted to he had been leaving on a bunch of lights that he thought weren’t using much energy and it saved him about $75 a month,” Barnes added. Last but not least, Barnes says make sure your house is properly insulated and make sure any cracks, holes or windows are sealed.
