JPD Assists in Child Solicitation Investigation, Arrest Humboldt Man

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The Jackson Police Department and Madison County Sheriff Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces assisted the Medina Police Department in the arrest of a Humboldt man with solicitation investigations last Friday. On Friday, police found that James Hayes, of Humboldt, was soliciting an underage Medina male for sex over the Internet. Hayes arranged for the minor to travel to Trenton and meet at an Exxon service station. Hayes further planned to travel back to the minor‘s home for sex. Investigators intercepted Hayes at the Trenton Exxon and took him into custody. Hayes also had a felony amount of marijuana and a scale in his possession. Hayes was transported to the Gibson County Jail and charged with solicitation of aggravated statutory rape by Medina police. Hayes also faces drug charges. The Jackson Police Department’s ICAC Task Force routinely assist local jurisdictions in apprehending online predators who are soliciting minors for sex and explicit images. The ICAC Task Force is part of the Jackson Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau.
