Jackson Fireman Loses Home to Late Night Blaze

HENDERSON, Tenn. — A Jackson firefighter who lives in Chester County is now homeless after losing his house to a late night blaze, Saturday night. A fireman losing their home to the very thing they fight every day may sound strange, but Mike Bullman says it’s a grave reality. “You know, fire don’t discriminate against nobody, it don’t matter who you are, you know it can get you,” Bullman said. Officials say the home on Enville Rd. went up in flames shortly after 11:30 Saturday night. Chester County Fire Chief Jim Vest says no one was injured but Bullman, who was at work when the fire started. He says his wife and two grandchildren made a daring escape as their lives were put on the line. “As she was getting the kids out, she happened to notice the hall was already glowing red,” Bullman said. Bullman’s wife didn’t want to go on camera but said words can’t describe the feeling of losing your home. But she said there’s a silver lining at the end of the tunnel because now the roles are being reversed as the community comes to Bullman’s rescue. “People are coming by and offering food, clothes and whatever because mainly they just got out with just the clothes they had on,” Bullman said. Now, all that’s left of this 20-year-old home is a shattered frame. “Thank the lord that everybody’s safe and everything else will take care of itself,” Bullman said. There’s no word on where the flames started. Bullman says officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
