Police Charge Man with Distributing and Possessing Child Pornography

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Jackson police have a charged a man with distributing and possessing child pornography. Ricco Shanklin, 24, was arrested at his Jackson home Monday evening and transported to the Madison County Jail. He was arraigned Tuesday morning in Jackson City Court on a charge of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. In December, investigators were notified that Shanklin had downloaded child pornography on his computer. On Monday evening, the Jackson Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at Shanklin’s home. Investigators found evidence that Shanklin had downloaded and shared sexually explicit videos of teenagers and young children on the Internet. Shanklin’s next scheduled court appearance is 1:30 p.m. Jan. 23 in Jackson City Court. He remains in custody at the Madison County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond. The ICAC Task Force is part of the Jackson Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau.
