Man Charged in Tractor Supply Armed Robbery

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Jackson police have charged a man in Wednesday’s armed robbery at Tractor Supply. Richard Waltrip, 28, of Jackson is in custody at the Madison County Jail. The Jackson City Court judge will set him a bond Saturday morning. Waltrip will be formally arraigned at 8 a.m. Monday in Jackson City Court on a charge of aggravated robbery. Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, a man entered Tractor Supply at 15 Carriage House Drive. While the man was standing at the register, he grabbed the clerk by the arm, pulled a knife and demanded money. The clerk complied with his demands, and he left with cash. Investigators developed information that Waltrip was involved and went to his Jackson home around 11 a.m. today. Investigators recovered the knife and other evidence that linked him to the robbery. Waltrip was taken into custody.
