PARIS, Tenn. — Henry County residents are speaking out after their trustee David Stone landed himself in hot water twice in a span of eight days. Ervin Biggers, the owner of JR’s Silver Dollar, says enough is enough. “I just don’t think it’s right and I don’t think he should be allowed to run for office again,” Biggers said. Stone, who is accused of sending threatening text messages to Sheriff Monte Belew, was arrested Friday night for violation of parole and harassment. This comes after officials say he was just put behind bars last Friday for civil rights intimidation after allegedly sending his opponent in the upcoming election Randi French, a threatening Facebook message. Neely Owens, a Tennessee constable in Henry County, says he ran against Stone for trustee a few years ago, and this is not the same man he used to know. “He may be on the wrong track right now, but he was truly good at what he did,” Owens said. Henry County Mayor Brent Greer released a statement saying “I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by the continued actions of Mr. Stone. As public servants we must hold ourselves to a level of trust and integrity that is beyond reproach.” “I mean, don’t get me wrong, I voted for the man the last time myself, I actually voted for him,” Biggers said. “But I just don’t think its doing the taxpayers and the voters justice.” The Henry County mayor said he is currently discussing the situation with the County Technical Assistance Service. He also said he hopes Stone will seek counseling. Stone is being held at the Henry County jail without bond.
