First Responders Injured in Accident

MIDTOWN JACKSON — According to investigators on the scene, an ambulance hit the back of a car near the intersection of north Highland and Walnut Street. The ambulance was heading to a nearby hospital with a patient on board when the collision happened. The ambulance driver, two firefighters on board and a person in the car were injured in the crash. Another ambulance was dispatched to take the original patient on to the hospital. Those were injured have what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries and also taken to an area hospital. Both north and southbound lanes of Highland are closed at Forest Avenue.
