Neighbors React to Death of Union University Student

DYERSBURG, Tenn – Neighbors of Olivia Greenlee, the 21-year old Union University student found shot in the head near campus last Wednesday, are reacting to her death. “It was just something that shocked me,” Alec Porter, a neighbor of the Greenlee family said. “The fact that they’ve lived next to me for 13 years…it came as a shock.” Police have charged Greenlee’s fiancé, 21-year old Union University student, Charles Pittman, with her death. Neighbors said it makes the news even more shocking. “It’s so close and it’s someone that lived next to me almost my entire life,” Porter said. Greenlee graduated from Dyersburg High School in 2010. School Superintendent, Neel Durbin, was a teacher at the time and had Greenlee in one of his classes. He released this statement to WBBJ on Monday: The Dyersburg School System is deeply saddened by Olivia Greenlee’s death. She was an extremely intelligent student who I knew would go on to do great things. Olivia comes from a good family of great faith. With few details being released about Greenlee’s murder, neighbors and friends said they’re left to grieve with lots of unanswered questions.
