MILLEDGEVILLE, Tenn. — Someone’s dream has come true after Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing. A $1 million winning lottery ticket was sold at the White Oak Shell store. “Even though it’s a small town, the lottery machine that we have is wore out all the time for people just hoping they win that big money,” store employee Tracy Davis said. “It’s about time somebody from a small town won a big sum of money,” store employee Becky Bobar said. “It goes a long way for a small town and the little people around here.” In a town of just 265 people, residents are wondering who has the winning ticket. But at this point, they don’t know, and they just hope it was somebody nearby and not somebody that was passing through. “I hope my mother-in-law bought the ticket,” resident Julie Lipford said. “I hope it’s her. She buys one every week, so I hope it was her.” “It would definitely upgrade their lives and their family’s lives because they’ll share,” Bobar said. “That’s the way people are around here. They share.” This isn’t the first big winner at the store, which has sold tickets worth anywhere from $1000 to $150,000. Store employees are just hoping the winner pays it forward. “90 percent of the people that come in and buy a ticket say ‘if we win the big one, we’re going to come back, we’ll remember you,’ so remember us,” Bobar said. The store will get a get money for selling the winning ticket, and owner Chuck Meek says he’ll spread the wealth. “I’ll share part of the $5,000 with employees and the church,” Meek said.
