Police Say String of Dollar General Store Burglaries Could Be Related

WHITEVILLE, Tenn-Local police have joined forces to find thieves they said broke into several Dollar General stores in at least three West Tennessee Counties. According to Investigator Ben Davis of the Whiteville Police Department, they are not sure just how many suspects they are looking for that robbed the Dollar General Store in Whiteville last week; but he believes the burglary could be connected to several others in McNairy and Fayette County. “We are working with several other officers in other counties and comparing our notes,” said Investigator Davis. Investigator Davis said the thieves are gaining entry in the rear of the building by cutting into the building’s thin exterior. “I think they’re cutting it because they are familiar with how thin the material is,” Investigator Davis said. According to police, there have been at least four burglaries of Dollar General Stores in the last six months throughout West Tennessee. Investigator Davis said by working with neighboring towns, they hope they can soon catch the Dollar General Store thieves.
