JACKSON, Tenn.- The girls in green are back with their often-craved cookies. Girl Scouts have been selling door-to-door for weeks, but Friday marked the first day for booth sales. Girl Scouts throughout West Tennessee are set up outside local businesses selling the sweet treats. The cookies are the major fundraiser for troops. Girl Scouts have been selling cookies since 1917 to raise funds for their projects. Girls who participate can earn prizes but they also sell cookies to give back. “We’re selling Girl Scout cookies and we also do overseas to donate them to the troops overseas,” said Megan Hicks, a Girl Scout. Girl Scouts has set up a cookie locator link to help find cookie booths in your area.
