Deputies Investigate Shooting Near Milan

JACKSON, Tenn. — Gibson County deputies search for a gunman in connection with a shooting that sent a man to the hospital. “I was like what is going on?” Diann Jones, a neighbor, said. Deputies say someone shot Marcus Coleman, 27, around 7 p.m. Sunday on Napoleon Luther Road. “It was cop cars, sheriff cars, ambulance, and everything out there,” Jones said. Jones lives not far from where the shooting happened. “Haven’t nothing like this ever happened out here before and I’ve been here since 69,” she said. Deputies believe the shooting happened near the dead end of the street. Investigators confirm Coleman took a gunshot to the chest. Investigators say the victim went to a house nearby and asked for help. “You hear about stuff like this further out. Never in a little small area like this,” Jones said. The shooting shocked people in the community. “Nothing happens over here like literally at all like I couldn’t explain it,” Samuel Nesbitt said, a neighbor. Coleman went to The Med in Memphis. Jones remain on edge. “I didn’t even sleep last night I was so nervous,” she said. Deputies say Coleman refused to cooperate with investigators. If you have any information about the shooting, call the Gibson County Sheriff‘s Office.
