Pair Faces Several Drug Related Charges

SOUTH MADISON COUNTY — Two people were arrested and face several drug related charges after investigators say they discovered 2 pounds of marijuana and handguns at a residence, Saturday. According to investigators from the Jackson-Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit, a complaint of drug activity was received for the home of Damarko Clay, 22, on Bolivar Hwy. Investigators say the search warrant yielded approximately 920.3 grams (2 pounds) of Marijuana, Hydrocodone pills, two loaded handguns and a digital scale. A visitor, Michael Roberson, also had approximately 20.9 grams of Marijuana on him. A 1999 Pontiac Bonneville, $2,187 and electronics believed to be the proceeds of drug sales were seized. The drugs seized in this case have an estimated street value of $3,400. Clay was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell or Distribute, Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell or Distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Evidence and Possession of a Firearm in commission of a Dangerous Felony. Roberson, 21, was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell or Distribute and Tampering with Evidence. Clay was arraigned Monday morning on four charges, and Roberson on two counts. Both are set to return to court on March 20.
