Police Search for Robbery Suspect Who Was Shot in the Act

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Humboldt police are still searching for a suspect in an attempted armed robbery that left the him with a gunshot wound. On Feb. 9, a Humboldt resident was entering his home when he was approached by a man with a sawed-off shotgun. According to police, the resident pulled a gun and shot the robber. The suspect then dropped the shotgun and fled the scene. The resident was not injured. Marcus Dontay Godwin, 21, was developed early on as a suspect after seeking medical assistance for gunshot wounds at Humboldt General Emergency Room. Godwin has now been charged with Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault & Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. Police say not to approach Godwin as he is considered armed and dangerous.
