Robbery Suspect Who Was Shot in the Act Captured

MILAN, Tenn. — A suspect in an attempted armed robbery that left the him with a gunshot wound has been captured. Marcus Dontay Godwin, 21, was arrested Monday afternoon by Agents of the US Marshals & the Milan Police Department. On Feb. 9, a Humboldt resident was entering his home when he was approached by a man with a sawed-off shotgun. According to police, the resident pulled a gun and shot the robber. The suspect then dropped the shotgun and fled the scene. The resident was not injured. Godwin, was developed early on as a suspect after seeking medical assistance for gunshot wounds at Humboldt General Emergency Room. Godwin has now been charged with Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault & Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
