Animal Shelter Without A Roof Gets Repaired

BOLIVAR, Tenn. — A local animal shelter in need of a new roof for years finally gets their wish granted. “Wind, rain, sleet, snow, sun,” Gordan Harris said. Harris said several dogs had to endure these conditions because the county run animal shelter in Bolivar had no roof. “The county just didn’t have the money in their budget so we asked them could we come up with the funds,” Harris said. Volunteers from the nearby shelter, Hardeman County Adoptable Animals, raised close to $5000 to get a new roof and other necessities for the dogs. MN Paws, an out-of-state animal shelter in Minnesota, provided them with assistance. “Moisture breeds a lot of diseases,” Harris said. “The more we can decrease the moisture the less diseases.” Volunteers said this winter many of the dogs were sick due to lack of protection in the inclement weather; but they’re glad that the animals are safe for the rest of the winter season.
