JPD Offering Help to Homeless

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson police said if homeless shelters fill up Monday night they will be on standby to help. According to police, there is no specific plan in place, but they are ready to assist if shelters cannot house anymore people. As of late Monday night, they said no one has come to JPD headquarters for help. But if the weather gets too bad, they will work with Madison County Emergency Management crews to find shelter for the homeless in the city. “They have the resources to enable us to better house any homeless that come up and need shelter so that’s one of the functions that they’ll take care of,” said Sgt. Johnny Jines of the Jackson Police Dept. If you do not have a place to go Monday night, JPD urges anyone without a place to live to stop by their office.
