Awning Collapses at Dyer City Hall

DYER, Tenn. – One person was taken to the hospital after an awning collapsed at Dyer City Hall around 8:30 this morning. Mayor Chris Younger tells us that a man was coming to City Hall to pay a bill when the awning collapsed. His arm was trapped for a brief period. The man went to the hospital on his own accord as a precaution. Mayor Younger said the ice and snow was too much for the awning to hold. It had recently been repainted and inspected and there were no problems. Younger said a meeting will be held on Monday to determine if a new awning will be built or if it will just be left alone.
