Plane Crash near McKellar-Sipes Airport

WEST MADISON COUNTY — A Cessna 172 has crashed near the McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport, Wednesday morning around 11 a.m. According to airport officials, two people took off from McKallar-Sipes airport and were headed east for a business trip. Shortly after taking off, they realized they was an issue with the plane, so they tried to land back at the airport. Instead, they made an emergency landing on Hwy. 70. The wing then clipped a road sign, which sent the plane into a field. Both occupants were not injured.
