Union City Gas Station Collapses

UNION CITY, Tenn. — An awning of a gas station collapsed at a Shell on Reelfoot Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, injuring one. It happened right before 2 p.m. Early reports say that one car was trapped underneath the awning, but three others were at the gas station at the time. About a third of the awning of the Shell Station collapsed. According to Perry Barfield, the Union City Police Chief, the man who was pumping gas at the time left the wreckage and was sent to the hospital with a laceration and a bump on the head. The trapped car car has since been removed.
