Jackson Meadow Has a Hero

WEST JACKSON — Judge Davis says what he did was nothing special. He was just helping his neighbor escape from a burning building. The World War II veteran and his wife of 56 years, Nancy, say at first they ignored the fire alarm when it first sounded Tuesday afternoon. “We just closed our ears and acted like it wasn’t going on, because before, it was only a drill,” Nancy said. But this was not a drill. Judge figured that out when he walked out of his door and smelled the smoke. As they were leaving, Judge realized one of his neighbors hadn’t come out, and that’s when he went to find her. “My dad has always been my hero – he’s a pretty special guy,” Lori Higgins, Judge’s daughter, said. She is proud of what her dad did, and her mom says she’s thrilled to have her husband by her side, and thrilled that everyone made it out safely.
