EAST JACKSON – One of the women at the center of the investigation into former Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork returned to work Monday morning. Deputy Sharon Sangster returned to her previous post as a clerk in the warrants department at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Monday morning. It’s been exactly five months since she’s sat at her desk. “I just hope that no one else has to ever endure what I’ve been through in the last five months with my job,” Sangster said. Sangster was placed on paid administrative leave shortly after an alleged physical confrontation with now-retired Sheriff Woolfork inside her West Jackson home. She admitted to a two-year affair with her married boss. Captain Anthony Heavner tells us, “She reported for work on time, she’s been at her desk doing her job, I spoke to her earlier this morning, and it was a normal greeting.” Sangsters co-workers told us off-camera that it’s been a tiring process for everyone involved, including them. Although they’re glad she’s back, things are still a bit awkward. Captain Heavner says Sangster is back with the same job title and payroll, but some policies have changed since she’s been gone. He says there is an additional resource to report to that now allows employees to go outside the department’s chain of command to report sexual harassment issues. Sangster says she likes the changes enacted by the county, and looks forward to things returning to normal.
