Police: Man Arrested for 3rd Offense DUI, Driving on Wrong Side of Road

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — A man police say was too drunk to even keep his head up was arrested for his third DUI, Saturday. Jose Perez, 24, was arrested after Huntingdon Police were alerted that someone was driving north in the southbound lane on Hwy 22. When an officer caught up with him, police say Perez nearly hit a patrol car and caused the officer to crash into a guardrail. The car was stopped only after another officer blocked the road with his vehicle. At this point, police reportedly witnessed Perez, who was slurring his speech and could not keep his head up, in the driver’s seat of his Dodge. There were also open beer containers in the car, and police say that Perez asked multiple times what county he was in. When asked the do a field sobriety test, police say Perez said he did not want to participate because he would just get arrested anyway. Perez was transferred to Baptist Memorial Hospital for blood tests, and later to the Carroll County Jail. Perez is charged with 3rd offense DUI, 3rd offense driving on revoked license and open container. Perez is still in jail as of Monday afternoon.
