MARTIN, Tenn. – One man is dead after a house fire Wednesday night in Martin. According to Captain Don Teal with the Martin Police Department, the call came in just after 8:30 p.m. about a fire in the 100 block of Jackson Street. Because of the heavy smoke and fire, firefighters were not able to enter the residence. Near the completion of fighting the fire, firefighters learned that a victim had been found inside the residence. First responders released the name of the victim Thursday afternoon as Ronald Tyrone Edwards. Family says that he lived there with his nephew who was not home at the time of the fire. The nephew tells us it is going to be a big rebuilding process. “The whole community, not only the family, but friends and acquaintances of the victim, it’s difficult for everyone,” Teal said. An investigation is ongoing regarding the cause of the fire.
