MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Seven Madison County firefighters have officially become certified for the National Association of Fire Investigators. It’s been two years in the making, and the firefighters studied for weeks to become nationally certified for fire and explosion investigations. Out of more than 100 firefighters working in Madison County, there are now nine certified fire and explosion investigators, where there were only two before. Officials say everyone who studied and took the test passed, which will take Madison County Fire investigations to the next level. “We’re firefighters, but after the fire is out, we’ll start into the investigation mode and starting to figure out what the cause and origin in a fire is,” Don Friddle, Fire Marshall with JFD said. Fire officials say the investigators will be working with state bomb and arson teams, as well as with surrounding county fire investigations.
