ENVILLE, Tenn. — A new development in what was though to be a weekend hostage situation in Chester County. Deputies say the alleged victim was the one who refused to leave the house. Neighbors of Eric Richardson, 41, said the chaos that ended in gun fire on Sunday actually started Saturday. “He went down the road here and spun out his tires,” Rodney Bohannan said, Richardson’s neighbor. Officials say the victim says she was not held hostage Sunday, but refused to leave without her belongings. Deputies say Richardson shot two of his girlfriend’s horses Saturday night. “Just outrageous, just a shame, and stuff like that shouldn’t even be happening,” Bohannan said. Deputies say after learning her horses had been killed, she broke up with Richardson and went to their home on Lofton Lane Sunday afternoon. Her friend and the woman’s 15-year-old son came along. Soon after they arrived, Richardson reportedly shot into the travel trailer. “When people are mad I feel as though they should just turn around and walk away,” Bohannan said. Richardson is charged with cruelty to animals, unlawful possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault. But not everyone in Enville thinks he should have been taken into custody. “He didn’t cause no trouble around here, none whatsoever,” John Roach said, an Enville resident. Deputies say Richardson had no prior arrests. Officials say no one was injured in the shooting Sunday afternoon.
