Police Charge Man with Soliciting Minor for Sex Over the Internet

DOWNTOWN JACKSON, — Jackson police have charged a man with soliciting a minor for sex over the internet. Geoffrey Hale, 45, was arraigned in Jackson City Court at 8 a.m. today on charges of solicitation of aggravated statutory rape. His bond was set at $20,000. As of this afternoon, Hale remained in custody at the Madison County Jail in lieu of bond. Hale’s next scheduled court date is 9:30 a.m. on April 10 in City Court. On Saturday, investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were notified that Hale had solicited a boy under 18 for sex via the internet. He was transported to the Madison County Jail. The ICAC Task Force is part of the Jackson Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau.
