JACKSON, Tenn.- Even after a week of testimony, the case against Milan Mayor Chris Crider and other city officials is far from over. Earlier this week, a federal jury found Crider had violated worker Lindsey Whitney Taylor’s right to free speech and awarded her $50,000. Now, a judge will decide whether the city and Crider violated Taylor’s human rights through retaliation. Friday, Milan’s former fire chief James Fountain took the stand to testify about a telephone conversation he had with Taylor. Attorneys said the conversation was recorded by Taylor without him knowing. Testimony will resume Monday.
