DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Five people believed to be involved in a November shooting were indicted, Monday. The grand jury returned indictments on Casey Mackey, 20; Hentrick Long, 18; Keondre Long, 16; Shenequa Ross, 20 and Corey Gray, 27, all of Jackson for four counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of aggravated assault, employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and felony evading arrest. On Nov. 11 around 10:50 p.m., Jackson police responded to a shots fired call on Holland Avenue. Responding officers determined that shots were fired into the house at 88 Holland Avenue. At the time of the shooting, the home was occupied by four people, ages 49, 41, 21 and 16. No one inside was injured. Shortly afterward, police spotted a car believed to be involved in the shooting. Officers attempted to stop the car and were led on a pursuit. The car crashed into a pole on the 600 block of Lexington Avenue causing Keondre Long to be thrown out. Gray, Mackey and Hentrick Long ran away from the scene. The driver, Ross, was taken into custody, and three guns were recovered from the car. Keondre Long was transported to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis with serious injuries. Police arrested Gray, Mackey and Hentrick Long the next day. After Keondre Long was discharged from The Med in Memphis, he was transported to the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center. Following a Dec. 18 transfer hearing in Madison County Juvenile Court, Judge Christy Little ruled that Long may be tried as an adult. He was transferred from court to the Madison County Jail. All five are being held at the Madison County Jail on $500,000 bond each. They are scheduled to be arraigned next Monday in Madison County Circuit Court.
