If you lose power: 1) Jackson-Madison County’s EMA director Marty Clements says to make sure you know where to turn off gas in your house if you lose power. 2) Turn off each individual switch in your home’s breaker box before switching off the main breaker. 3) Always keep a weather radio handy for more storm updates. If your home has damage: 1) Clements says do no turn your breaker back on until an electrician can come repair your power for you. 2) Take several photos of the damage for your records. 3) Stay away from any dangerous areas like live wires or unstable debris.
