Summitt era at La. Tech opens with DeMoss hiring

RUSTON, La. (AP) – Tyler Summitt says he’s proud to have a chance to build upon Louisiana Tech’s storied women’s basketball program and that he’s looking forward to starting the job with a long-time mentor at his side.
The 23-year-old Summitt is the son of Hall-of-Fame Tennessee Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt. During his formal introduction as the Lady Techsters’ head coach on Wednesday, Summitt introduced Mickie DeMoss as his top assistant. DeMoss played at Louisiana Tech and spent two decades as Pat Summitt’s assistant in Knoxville.
Summitt, who takes his first head coaching job after only two years as an assistant with the Marquette women’s team, says he’ll be relying on DeMoss’ expertise.
Pat Summitt says her son has been “preparing for this day since he was a little boy.”
