Union Univ. Files Suit to Block Abortion Mandates

JACKSON, Tenn.- Union University has joined other faith-based institutions in filing a federal lawsuit that challenges an order to provide abortion-causing drugs as part of employee health care plans. The suit, filed Friday seeks a judgement delcaring that the abortion mandate of the Affordable Care Act violates the school’s constitutional rights. A federal court in Houston, Texas ruled in favor of two universities that filed similar lawsuits, stating that the mandate violates federal civil rights laws.
