Child in State Custody after Being Found Standing in Ditch

TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn.- A Tipton County 6-year-old is in state custody after a Drummonds city worker found him just before 9 a.m. Monday shoeless and standing in a ditch filled with water. Investigators said his 29-year-old mother has not been charged. She told investigators she was awakened by the child around 5:30 p.m. and thought he went back to bed. The child is described as non-verbal so he was unable to tell deputies anything.
