WEST JACKSON — It’s been an eventful few weeks for Jackson Meadow residents, but that was all forgotten during Thursday morning’s welcome home celebration. First responders, firefighters and bus drivers who helped residents on the day of the fire were honored at the event. Residents also attended the celebration. “It’s very important to come and see my friends because it’s been awhile since I have seen them,” Tom Hazelwood, a Jackson Meadow resident said. “We are like family, and it is important to get family back together.” The Jackson Fire Department evacuated more than 100 senior residents from the home after a fire sparked in the building’s attic area on March 4. When the building was cleared for return on April 11, some residents alerted police that were valuables missing from their rooms. Residents were temporarily moved to another facility while construction crews worked to repair the damage During that time, residents’ doors were left open and valuables were left inside their rooms. That investigation was ongoing.
