Monday’s Shooting Marks 5th Jackson Homicide in 2014

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Monday’s afternoon shooting marks the fifth homicide so far this year in Jackson. The first two homicide victims, Johnny shivers and Markel Owens, were shot and died from their injuries on Jan. 15 after a home invasion and robbery in North Jackson. Investigators developed the case and determined that Johnny Wade, 19, was the second robber and gunman with Derrick Wade, 22. On Feb. 11, officers responded to Union University after campus security found Olivia Greenlee’s body inside of a parked car. Jackson police charged her fiancé Charles Pittman, 21, with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. On the March 11, police reports say Aljernon Lloyd Jr. was shot while sitting in his car. Officers were called after a car Llyod was driving hit the porch at a house on East Forest Avenue. Ytockie Fulle is charged with first-degree murder in this case. All four of these cases have suspects in custody who are charged with first degree murder. At this time last year, there was one homicide victim. The total for 2013 ended at 11.
