‘Clothesline Project’ Raises Awareness of Sexual Abuse

JACKSON, Tenn.- An unusual sight on the campus of Lane College Wednesday. There was laundry hanging on lines stretched between two buildings, but it was not laundry day. It was shirts designed by victims and survivors of sexual abuse. Some of the shirts were also designed by friends and family of individuals who have died because of abuse. Organizers say this display is a way of letting other victims know they are not alone. “There are victims out there silent victims that still are out there that are not receiving services that we want to bring awareness and we want to encourage them to get those services that are available here in Madison County,” said Stacy Miller, the event’s organizer. This was the third year for the event more than 200 people participated.
