DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Jackson police investigators presented two cases to the Madison County grand jury, which resulted in Brenda Woods’ indictment for two counts of theft from Macy’s Department Store on Nov. 13 and 15. Woods is scheduled to be arraigned next Monday in Madison County Circuit Court. An investigation by police determined that on Nov. 6, Woods, 57, of Bolivar, purchased clothing online from Macy’s for $87.79. On Nov. 13, Woods went to Macy’s at 2021 North Highland Avenue requesting a refund for the recently purchased item. Woods was given a gift card for the return. It was later discovered that the returned item was not the same one that Woods had ordered and purchased online. On Nov. 15, Woods was observed by loss prevention carrying articles of clothing into a Macy’s dressing room. When Woods exited the room, she was not carrying any clothing. Loss prevention checked the room and only found clothing tags. The total value of stolen items was $170.98. Woods was notified of the charges and surrendered at the Madison County Jail on Nov. 21. She was released on $10,000 bond the next day.
