DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Some of Jackson’s finest got a silent thank-you by a secret Good Samaritan last week. Chief Gill Kendrick and some of his command staff took their administrative assistants to lunch at Rafferty’s last Friday in honor of Administrative Assistants Day. Each of the officers expected to pick up the cost of their meals, but got a pleasant surprise midway through lunch. The server brought out their receipt, and it was already paid in full. It also included a handwritten note on the back. The note read, “We can never in a million years repay you for the great work each of you do for the citizens of Jackson. We respect and appreciate you guys and gals more than you will ever know. Head up, carry on the sacrificial work of service and protection. Paid in full, a servant of good.” “I was rendered speechless, but to say that we have those people in our community who still revere law enforcement and those that serve in that capacity when could there even be a prouder moment,” Chief Kendrick said. The meal totaled almost $170.
