Jackson Firefighters Teach ROTC Cadets Life Skill

SOUTH JACKSON — ROTC students at South Side High School received CPR training from some very credible instructors on Tuesday. Jackson firefighters say they were asked by the ROTC commander to help train his cadets. Crews say teaching them how save a life now can make a difference later. “If we can get to them younger — in their teens or preteens — where they learn the skill, they can obtain the skill, retain it, then this will go with them throughout their adult life,” Rico Bryson with the Jackson Fire Department said. There were 20 ROTC students who participated in the training on Tuesday. The students are now a part of the certified response team for the school.
