Stolen Scrap Metal Recovered in Bruceton, Three Charged

BRUCETON, Tenn. — Two men have been arrested and face multiple charges after police say they are responsible for stealing scrap metal and a host of appliances from a storage unit. According to Bruceton Police, Jason Rednour, 37, and Justin Harris, 19, were spotted in a van following an SUV pulling a trailer filled with scrap metal that, after investigation, was found to be stolen. When police caught up with the van, which was later discovered to be driven by Rednour, the vehicle fled and a high speed pursuit ensued briefly until the pursuing officer backed up for fear the driver was going to wreck. The van was later found by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department on Park Cemetery Lane in a swampy area. Harris allegedly fled the scene on foot after abandoning the van, but was caught soon after. Rednour was caught the next day at the home of Amanda Hopper, who was later charged with filing a false report and receiving stolen property. Some of the stolen property found in the home included a Craftman Wrench Set, multiple propane tanks, a wood stove, a microwave, a water tank and a fridge full of scrap. Police say the pair stole these items from a storage unit of a man in Bruceton. Rednour and Harris are being charged with Aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000. Additionally, Rednour was charged with felony evading arrest, evading arrest, 2 counts of receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
