Mayor Gist Celebrates Day of Prayer

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson mayor came together with West Tennesseans to observe the National Day of Prayer, Thursday morning. The national theme this year is “One Voice, United in Prayer.” Gist said he encouraged citizens to celebrate their faith through prayer. Hundreds attended the event hosted by the Jackson Area Ministerial Association at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. “I think when we leave today all these people here, literally hundreds of them, will leave, leave this building knowing that we are unified in our faith,” Mayor Gist said. Those taking part say they came away uplifted seeing people from all walks of faith coming together to worship.
