Sunny Skies For Strawberry Festival Jr. Parade

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Hundreds lined the streets in Humboldt Thursday morning as floats were pushed, pulled and dragged down Main Street. It was all a part of the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival Jr. Floats parade. This annual gathering brought out the young and young at heart on Thursday. Residents like Sherry Roper say the strawberry festival is a staple of the city, but it’s more than just seeing the floats that keeps her coming back. “I love all the people coming, and this year I see that people are coming down early just to visit with one another,” Roper said. “It’s just a wonderful homecoming.” Some say they even prefer the Jr. Floats Parade over the grand floats parade on Friday. “I like it because there’s no car fumes or anything like that just everyone walking and having a good time,” Terry Hickerson, Parade Watcher, said. Organizers say they are keeping an eye on the sky for Friday’s Grand Parade. WBBJ will let you know if the decision is made to cancel.
